Employee Spotlight: May
Here at redIQ we like to celebrate and recognize the qualities of all our team members. Our employee spotlight is the perfect place for you to get to know the people behind the product better. Our May Spotlight introduces our Director of Marketing, Michael Hallman, whose dedication to the redIQ brand shows in all he does.
Michael joined redIQ in 2017, where he began building a comprehensive marketing strategy, inclusive of digital, advertising, content, events, brand, and product marketing, along with implementing a robust marketing automation operation. Along with Ben Beggs and Luke Behrmann, his counterparts in Sales and Product, he serves as part of redIQ’s leadership team, where collaboration is a key factor in executing the company’s various strategic initiatives.
His career has taken a very non-traditional path. After studying computer engineering at Drexel for a year, he left college and took a job as a mortgage associate at PHH Mortgage, then transitioning to sales, first with Citigroup and then Pitney Bowes. He then briefly joined forces with his father and brother, owning a business flipping houses – which they started just before the housing crash. This paved the way for two simultaneous events that changed the course of his life, paving the way for his marketing career and finally leading him to get his college degree. He enrolled at Villanova University, double majoring in philosophy and theology with a classics minor. To help pay his way through college, he freelanced in newspaper journalism, ghost writing and editing, and contracted with various marketing agencies in the Philadelphia area. After Villanova, his life took one more twist—he joined a monastery and spent three years with the Augustinian Friars. Though grateful for his time there, it was not the life for him, so he left and resumed his marketing consulting work.
After a few years he accepted a position with CBRE as their senior marketing specialist. He then became Director of Marketing for InSource, a SaaS startup focused on ServiceNow and Okta implementations. Finally, before joining redIQ, he served as Director of Content Marketing with Cushman & Wakefield.
Michael married his beautiful wife Danielle on May 14, 2016. They live in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia with their Rottweiler, Reggie, and their two cats, Luna and Bella. One final fun fact: he can do a headstand like it’s no-body’s business.
